The RX1R III is Sony’s fixed-lens full-frame premium compact, announced in July 2025. It pairs a 61.0-megapixel back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor without an optical low-pass filter with the BIONZ XR engine and a ZEISS Sonnar T* 35 mm F2 lens. A macro ring on the lens barrel switches between normal and macro focusing, and Step Crop Shooting gives 35 mm, 50 mm and 70 mm angles of view at 60, 29 and 15 megapixels respectively. The outer shell is magnesium alloy, and the camera records 4K video at up to 30p in 10-bit 4:2:2 through a single SD card slot.
