Both ship with an S Pen in the box and what Samsung values at roughly $445 of software benefits, headed by a pre-installed Adobe Photoshop and a six-month Google AI Pro trial. The pair run Android 17 with One UI 9 on MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 and carry 12.6-inch and 14.6-inch 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X screens.
The details
- Samsung's US newsroom announced on 7 October 2026 that the Galaxy Tab S12 series was available that day at Samsung.com, Samsung Experience Stores and retailers nationwide, with the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra starting at $1,399.99 and the Galaxy Tab S12+ starting at $1,199.99.
- The two tablets were unveiled on 30 September 2026, a week before they reached shelves, and SamMobile reported that sales opened on 7 October 2026 across the US, UK, Europe, India and other Asian markets, one day after South Korea got them on 6 October.
- The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra uses a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel at 2960 x 1848 and the Galaxy Tab S12+ a 12.6-inch panel at 2800 x 1752; both run at up to 120Hz with 1,600 nits peak brightness, 1,000 nits in High Brightness Mode, and an IP68 rating for water and dust.
- Both models are built on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, and Samsung claims the Tab S12 Ultra delivers 61% faster NPU processing, 19% faster CPU performance and 17% improved GPU power than the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra.
- The Tab S12 Ultra is sold with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage or 16GB with 1TB, while the Tab S12+ pairs 12GB of RAM with 256GB or 512GB; both accept microSD cards of up to 2TB and come in Gray or Silver.
- Samsung rates the Tab S12 Ultra's 11,600mAh battery for up to 23 hours of local 720p video playback and the Tab S12+'s 10,600mAh battery for up to 21 hours, with a 0-100% charge taking about 95 minutes using a 45W adapter that is sold separately.
- Every unit includes an S Pen in the box and ships with Android 17 and One UI 9, backed by Samsung's commitment to seven years of OS upgrades and security updates.
- Samsung values the bundled software benefits at approximately $445, covering a six-month Google AI Pro trial that afterwards bills $19.99 a month, four months of Adobe Photoshop's premium mobile subscription redeemable until 19 May 2028, six months of Notability plus 20% off the first full year, a year of Goodnotes Essential for US buyers who activate by 31 July 2027, a six-month Clip Studio Paint EX trial and a one-month Notion Business trial.
- 9to5Google reported that Adobe Photoshop is pre-installed on the Galaxy Tab S12 series with S Pen optimisation, alongside a preloaded Notability, making the app bundle a central selling point rather than a download-it-yourself offer.
- Samsung ran a limited-time launch promotion giving Galaxy Tab S12 buyers 30% off the Pro Keyboard or the Book Cover Keyboard Slim; SamMobile lists the Pro Keyboard at $399.99, which takes a Tab S12 Ultra and keyboard combination to roughly $1,800 before tax.
