Oppo’s OnePlus is finished in the West: the CNY 5,999 OnePlus 16 skips the UK, US and Europe

OnePlus announced the 9,000mAh, Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 OnePlus 16 in China on 12 October 2026, and it will not be sold through official channels in the UK, the US or Europe. Parent company Oppo had already confirmed in July 2026 that the sub-brand would conclude product rollouts in Europe and North America, leaving China and India as its only markets. Western owners keep updates and warranty support, and from 29 October 2026 their phones begin moving from OxygenOS to Oppo's ColorOS, with the option to stay on OxygenOS.

The details

  • OnePlus, a sub-brand of Oppo, confirmed on 16 July 2026 that it would end new product sales in the West, saying in an official statement that "After thorough evaluation, OnePlus has decided to conclude product rollouts in Europe and North America", a decision Tech Advisor reported as covering the US, the UK and Europe, and which Android Central headlined as an exit from the US and Europe.
  • OnePlus said its operations continue in China and India, with Indian launches including the OnePlus N6x going ahead as usual, although GSMArena cited a Bloomberg report claiming Indian operations would also cease in 2027 and that China would be the only business left.
  • The OnePlus North American Community website and app shut down on 16 August 2026 at 11:59 PM ET while the European Community site and stores stayed open for the time being, and OnePlus said devices already sold in both regions would keep receiving software updates and security patches on their existing schedules, with customer service channels remaining open for warranty and support claims and the OnePlus 15 covered until 2031.
  • Eligible OnePlus devices worldwide are being moved from OxygenOS to Oppo's ColorOS with their Android 17 update, although OnePlus says the switch is a voluntary update and users who take it can roll back to OxygenOS, and Tech Advisor reported on 19 October 2026 that ColorOS 17 reaches the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 on 29 October 2026, the OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13s on 30 October 2026, with further waves in November 2026, December 2026 and Q1 2027.
  • The OnePlus 16 was announced in China on 12 October 2026 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, a 6.78-inch 1,272 x 2,772 LTPO OLED panel that runs at 165Hz day to day and unlocks 185Hz in supported games, and an IP68/IP69K-rated body measuring 161.4 x 76.7 x 8.5 mm.
  • The OnePlus 16 carries a 9,000mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, up from the 7,300mAh cell in the OnePlus 15, an increase of 1,700mAh.
  • Its rear camera system is led by OnePlus's first 200MP main sensor at 1/1.4 inches and f/1.6, alongside a 50MP 3x telephoto on a larger 1/1.95-inch sensor (up from 1/2.76 inches on the OnePlus 15) and a 50MP ultrawide, with a 50MP front camera and video up to 8K at 30fps.
  • Chinese pricing starts at CNY 5,999 (about $896) for 12GB/256GB and rises to CNY 8,499 (about $1,270) for 16GB/1TB, roughly 50% above the OnePlus 15's CNY 4,000 launch price for 12GB/256GB, in Starlight, Dark Forest and Martian Masterpiece finishes.
  • OnePlus China president Li Jie posted on Weibo that the OnePlus 16 sold more than 70,000 units in its first hour on sale, which began at 10 AM local time on 13 October 2026; the company did not publish a comparable first-hour figure for the OnePlus 15.
  • Tech Advisor reported on 13 October 2026 that although reports suggest a global model of the OnePlus 16 will still exist, buyers will not be able to get it through official channels in the UK, the US or Europe; GSMArena describes the OnePlus 15 as the last global flagship from the company.
