MediaTek brings 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro to India; OPPO Find X10 Pro Max to launch it first

MediaTek showcased its 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro and the Dimensity 9600M at Tech Day in New Delhi on 6 October, where OPPO confirmed the Find X10 Pro Max will be the first phone in India to use the 9600 Pro.
The details
- MediaTek showcased the Dimensity 9600 Pro and Dimensity 9600M at its MediaTek Tech Day in New Delhi on 6 October 2026, an event themed "The Next Leap" and attended by OEM partners including Samsung, OPPO, Xiaomi, vivo, realme, OnePlus, Nothing and Motorola.
- MediaTek first unveiled the Dimensity 9600 Pro on 15 September 2026 in Hsinchu, Taiwan, as a flagship chip built on a 2nm process.
- The Dimensity 9600 Pro uses a 2+3+3 all-big-core CPU with two Arm C2-Ultra cores at up to 4.55GHz, three C2-Pro cores at up to 4.35GHz and three C2-Pro cores at up to 3.1GHz, and MediaTek's product page lists 16MB of L3 cache and a 10MB system-level cache.
- MediaTek claims up to 17% higher single-core and 15% higher multi-core performance than the previous generation, with 61% lower multi-core power consumption, figures it says come from demo-device testing in its own labs.
- The Arm Mali-G2 Ultra NX GPU is rated by MediaTek at up to 27% higher peak performance, 24% lower power at peak and 18% faster ray tracing, with gaming at up to 185fps.
- A dual-NPU design pairs the NPU 1090, which MediaTek says delivers 51% higher LLM prefill performance, 55% more tokens per watt and support for on-device models of up to 30 billion parameters, with a second-generation Super Efficient NPU that cuts always-on AI power by 40%.
- The Imagiq 1290 ISP supports camera sensors of up to 200MP, 4K240 slow motion, 4K120 cinematic log, 4K60 AI True Color Tone, 17EV imaging and NPU-powered 60fps motion capture.
- MediaTek says the 9600 Pro is the first Dimensity platform to support LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage, and its product page lists a 3GPP Release 17 Sub-6GHz 5G modem, Wi-Fi 7 at up to 7.3Gbps and Bluetooth 6.2.
- The Dimensity 9600M was announced alongside the 9600 Pro with MediaTek's Agentic AI Engine, Dimensity Scheduling Engine and HyperEngine gaming at up to 185fps, but MediaTek's announcement gives no CPU, GPU or process details for it; the first phones with either chip are expected this quarter.
- Goldee Patnaik, Head of Communications at OPPO India, confirmed at the event that the Find X10 Pro Max will be the first smartphone in India with the Dimensity 9600 Pro, and said the Find X10 series will reach Indian consumers "in the coming weeks", without giving an exact date or a price.
- OPPO's China website already lists the Find X10 Pro Max with the Dimensity 9600 Pro and three 200MP rear cameras, including a 1/1.3-inch f/1.5 main sensor and a 70mm-equivalent 1/1.56-inch f/2.1 telephoto, while Business Today reports the series debuts a Laminar Flow Engine rendering system co-developed by OPPO and MediaTek.
Why it matters
The Dimensity 9600 Pro is among the first 2nm smartphone chips and the first Dimensity platform with LPDDR6 and UFS 5.0, so the Find X10 Pro Max will be the first test in India of whether MediaTek's lab-measured efficiency claims, such as 61% lower multi-core power, hold up in a shipping phone. No Indian launch date or price has been announced yet, and MediaTek has not yet detailed the specifications of the Dimensity 9600M.
