iQOO 16 arrives with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, 8,400mAh cell

iQOO's China flagship pairs Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 with an 8,400mAh battery, 100W wired charging and a 6.85-inch 1440×3168 165Hz AMOLED, starting at CNY 5,999 for 12GB/256GB and on sale now.

The details

  • iQOO announced the iQOO 16 in China on 29 September 2026, and GSMArena and Smartprix report the phone is already on sale there.
  • The iQOO 16 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, listed on vivo's official product page as the "第六代骁龙 8 超级至尊版", alongside LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
  • Smartprix reports the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in the iQOO 16 is built on a 2nm process.
  • iQOO pairs the main chipset with a dedicated iQOO Q4 gaming chip that Smartprix says handles ray tracing and 165fps super-resolution frame interpolation at 2K.
  • vivo's official page lists an 8,400mAh battery rated at 31.34Wh typical energy, with 100W wired and 40W wireless charging.
  • The display is a 6.85-inch Samsung M16 AMOLED panel with 1440×3168 resolution, a 19.8:9 aspect ratio and a 165Hz refresh rate.
  • GSMArena reports the panel reaches 10,000 nits of very localized peak brightness and 2,800 nits at full-screen brightness.
  • The rear camera system is three 50MP sensors: a 1/1.3-inch f/1.68 main with OIS, a 1/2.75-inch ultrawide with autofocus, and a 1/1.95-inch periscope telephoto with OIS offering 3x optical zoom.
  • The front camera is a fixed-focus 32MP sensor.
  • GSMArena lists China pricing of CNY 5,999 for 12GB/256GB, CNY 6,799 for 12GB/512GB, CNY 7,499 for 16GB/512GB and CNY 8,499 for 16GB/1TB, with the phone running Android 17 with OriginOS 7, rated IP68 and IP69, and weighing 222.5g to 229.8g depending on colour.

Why it matters

The iQOO 16 shows where the China flagship ceiling now sits: an 8,400mAh battery and a 2K 165Hz panel in a phone that still weighs under 230g, on a 2nm chip. Buyers outside China should note that no global or India pricing or launch date has been announced, so these CNY figures are the only confirmed prices.
