Xiaomi’s HyperOS 4 goes stable, on two China-only devices first
The Android 17 build shipped on 7 September with the Xiaomi 18 Fold and Pad 9 Pro Max. Global beta sign-ups opened three days later, with wider firmware expected from late September.
The details
- Xiaomi announced HyperOS 4 on 13 August 2026 and started China beta testing the same day.
- The stable build was released on 7 September 2026, launching with the Xiaomi 18 Fold and Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max in China.
- HyperOS 4 is based on Android 17.
- China beta waves: 14 August for the Xiaomi 17 series, Redmi K90 series and Xiaomi Pad 8/Pad 8 Pro; 27 August for the Xiaomi 15 series, Xiaomi 17T series and Redmi K90 Max/Ultra; 17 September for the Redmi K80 and K100 Pro series, MIX Flip 2 and selected tablets.
- Global beta recruitment opened on 10 September 2026 with the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leica Leitzphone.
- A second global beta wave on 17 September adds the Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro, Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra.
- Global stable firmware is expected in late September or early October 2026.
- India builds are expected around October to November 2026, in line with Xiaomi's usual one to two month lag.
Why it matters
HyperOS 3 took from September 2025 until well into 2026 to reach older and mid-range phones. HyperOS 4 is following the same China-first pattern, so the announced release date tells owners outside China very little about when their own phone moves to Android 17.
