Apple unveils $299 HomeView smart display, $299 Apple TV 4K with A19 and $149 HomePod mini 2
Apple's 13 October 2026 "Welcome home" announcements rebuilt its smart home line around Siri AI, led by HomeView, a $299 hub with a 7-inch Liquid Retina display and an A18 chip, sold in tabletop and wall-mounted versions. Alongside it came a $299 Apple TV 4K on the A19 chip and a $149 HomePod mini 2 with an S10 chip and a new Sound Glow light effect. HomeView and the Apple TV 4K ship on 13 November and the HomePod mini 2 on 30 October; of the three, only HomeView is withheld from the European Union, because Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS there.
The details
- Apple announced HomeView on 13 October 2026 as "a new way to enjoy entertainment and manage the home", priced at $299 in the US for both the tabletop model (silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray) and the Apple HomeView (Wall Mounted) model (silver and space gray).
- Apple's specifications page lists a 7-inch Liquid Retina display at 1088 x 1088 pixels and 220 ppi with True Tone, automatic brightness from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits, an A18 chip, a 12MP Center Stage camera at f/2.4, a four-microphone array for far-field Siri, ambient light and temperature/humidity sensors, an accelerometer, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6.0, Thread and USB-C; the tabletop unit weighs 2.1 pounds (952 grams) against 0.63 pound (286 grams) for the wall-mounted one.
- HomeView pre-orders opened on 13 October 2026 in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the UK and the US, with Singapore following at 9 a.m. SGT on Thursday 15 October, while in South Africa both models are sold through Apple Authorized Resellers; general availability in all eight markets is Friday 13 November 2026, and Apple states the device is not for sale in the European Union because Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS there.
- Apple did not adopt the long-rumoured "homeOS" branding: it calls the platform "HomeView software", with Siri AI shipping in beta in HomeView software version 27.2, and the hub requires a paired iPhone running iOS 27.2 or an iPad running iPadOS 27.2 or later.
- The wall-mounted HomeView ships without power hardware and needs one of three Schneider Home power mounts sold separately: the Power Mount USB-C Wall Connector from $59.95, the Power Mount AC Wired from $79.95, and the Power Mount PoE Wired at $129.95, the last of which arrives in early 2027.
- The new Apple TV 4K costs $299 in the US and is built on the A19 chip, which Apple says delivers up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to twice the GPU performance of the previous generation, and adds a dedicated AV1 decoder plus three built-in far-field microphones that respond to "Hey Siri" when the primary tvOS language is Mandarin Chinese, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Norwegian or Swedish; its fourth-generation Siri Remote gains Find My with Precision Finding and a built-in speaker that plays a locating sound, and pre-orders began 13 October 2026 in the US and 29 other countries and regions, with retail availability on Friday 13 November.
- MacRumors noted that the previous Apple TV 4K started at $129 in the US and that the equivalent previous-generation 128GB model, initially $149, had gone up to $249 in late June 2026, making the $299 price $170 above the old entry price and $50 above what the 128GB model had most recently been selling for.
- HomePod mini 2 costs $149 in the US; the original launched at $99 and was raised to $129 in the US price increases of late June 2026, so the new model is $50 above the original launch price and $20 above what its predecessor had most recently been selling for. It runs an Apple S10 chip driving computational audio plus Sound Glow, a lit top panel that pulses to a track's bass and treble using a colour scheme drawn from its album artwork; it comes in pink, green, blue, white and midnight, pre-orders opened 13 October 2026 in the US and more than 23 other countries and regions, it reaches stores on Friday 30 October, and Siri AI arrives later in a future software update.
- Four HomePod mini 2 or HomePod (2nd generation) speakers can be paired with the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K as a four-speaker surround system using matching front and rear pairs with automatic calibration, and Siri AI is English-only across HomeView, Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2, limited to the US, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK; Apple says Canadian French support will be offered on HomeView later via a free software update.
- Apple also introduced the Apple Home Collection, a range of accessories co-designed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric that includes an LG Video Doorbell (Wired) at $249.95, an LG Floodlight Cam at $399.95, an LG Outdoor Cam (Plug-In) at $299.95, an LG Indoor Cam (Plug-In) at $199.95, an LG Smart Deadbolt Lock at $349.95 and Smart Thermostats from both LG and Schneider Home at $199.95, going on sale in December 2026 with selected items in early 2027.
