Apple posts M6 MacBook Pro at $1,999 and 24-inch iMac at $1,499

Apple announced three products by press release in three days: a redesigned iPad mini with an 8.5-inch OLED display on 26 October, and on 27 October the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 and the 24-inch iMac with M6. Both Macs hold their predecessors' prices after June's increases, with pre-orders from 28 October and shipping on Friday 6 November. The M6 adds two CPU cores and two GPU cores over the M5 and raises memory bandwidth to 170GB/s.

The details

  • Apple published the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 on 27 October 2026; the M6 carries a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, two more of each than the M5 it replaces, a dual 16-core Neural Engine and up to 170GB/s of memory bandwidth.
  • The machine starts at $1,999 in the United States, or $1,899 with education pricing, with 16GB of unified memory configurable to 32GB; pre-orders open at 10:10 a.m. PT on 28 October and it goes on sale on Friday 6 November.
  • Apple's India newsroom puts the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 at INR 2,39,900, or INR 2,27,900 with education savings, and apple.com/in/macbook-pro gives pre-orders from 10:40 p.m. IST on 28 October with availability from 6 November.
  • Everything around the chip is carried over: Apple lists the Liquid Retina XDR display with up to 1600 nits peak HDR brightness and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, an optional nano-texture finish, a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, up to 24 hours of battery life, and HDMI, MagSafe 3, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an SDXC slot and a headphone jack.
  • MacRumors reported on 27 October that the 170GB/s figure applies only to the 24GB and 32GB configurations, up from 153GB/s on the M5, and that the M6's 12 CPU cores split into 2 super, 4 performance and 6 efficiency cores; storage now starts at 1TB after the 512GB option was dropped in March.
  • Apple unveiled the 24-inch iMac with M6 the same day, at $1,499 for the 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU model with two Thunderbolt 4 ports and $1,699 for the 12-core model with four, on a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display rated at up to 500 nits, with pre-orders on 28 October and availability on 6 November.
  • 9to5Mac reported on 27 October that both M6 Macs start at the same prices as the models they replace, following Apple's June increases that took the iMac from $1,299 to $1,499 and the 14-inch MacBook Pro from $1,699 to $1,999.
  • The week opened on 26 October with a redesigned iPad mini: an 8.5-inch OLED display, up from 8.3 inches, rated at 600 nits for standard content and 1,200 nits for HDR, an A20 Pro chip, and a $699 starting price, with pre-orders on 28 October and availability on 6 November.
