MediaTek sets 15 September date for Dimensity 9600 Pro
The chipmaker has posted a date and a time for its next flagship phone processor and teased gaming and video features. It has published no specifications, and no process node.
The details
- MediaTek has confirmed the Dimensity 9600 Pro will be unveiled on 15 September 2026 at 2:30pm China time, which is 7:30am in London, 8:30am in central Europe and 12 noon in India.
- The date was announced by MediaTek on X, ahead of the event in China.
- MediaTek's teaser points to efficiency and imaging gains but attaches no figures to either.
- Video capabilities teased include 4K 240fps slow-motion capture.
- Gaming claims include an upgraded HyperEngine layer, AI-assisted graphics and ray tracing.
- MediaTek has not said whether a non-Pro Dimensity 9600 or a higher Pro Max tier arrives at the same event.
- The manufacturing process has not been confirmed by MediaTek. A 2nm node has been reported but remains unofficial.
- No CPU or GPU configuration, clock speeds, memory support or pricing have been published.
Why it matters
This is the part that will sit inside a large share of Android flagships and upper-mid-range phones sold from late 2026 into 2027, so anyone weighing a flagship purchase in the next few weeks will shortly be able to compare it against whatever Qualcomm shows a week later.
