Samsung opens One UI 9 beta to Galaxy S25 and 2025 foldables
From 1 September the Android 17 test build covers the Galaxy S25 line, S25 FE, Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 in four markets. The stable build for the Galaxy S26 is still unscheduled.
The details
- Samsung announced the beta expansion on 1 September 2026.
- Devices added: Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7.
- Markets are India, South Korea, the UK and the US, with Samsung saying availability and timing vary by market.
- Enrolment is through the Samsung Members app.
- One UI 9 is built on Android 17.
- The Galaxy S26 series had reached its eighth beta build by 1 September, and Samsung has said the stable release is close without naming a date.
- SamMobile reports the Galaxy S25 beta is limited to factory-unlocked models in the US.
- The Galaxy S26 FE, announced on 27 August 2026, is the first phone in the Galaxy S26 family to ship with One UI 9 preinstalled.
Why it matters
Owners of last year's flagships usually wait months behind the current model for a major One UI jump. Pulling the S25 line and the 2025 foldables into the beta this early suggests the gap between the S26 stable release and everything else will be shorter than it was for One UI 8.5.
