iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 arrive 14 September with new Siri

Free updates bring a rebuilt conversational Siri, a systemwide menu bar on iPad and faster file transfers; the newest Siri features need an M4 iPad or later.

The details

  • Both iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 are released as free updates on Monday 14 September 2026; the date was confirmed at Apple's 9 September 2026 event.
  • Both were first shown at WWDC on 8 June 2026 alongside macOS Golden Gate, watchOS 27, tvOS 27 and visionOS 27.
  • Headline change is a rebuilt Siri, driven by Apple Intelligence and Apple Foundation Models, with natural conversation, conversation history, follow-up questions, personal context and app actions, plus a dedicated Siri app that syncs across Apple devices.
  • Siri's new capabilities roll out in English first; Apple Intelligence supports Chinese, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Vietnamese.
