August 2024 will see the release of many popular games, including Black Myth: Wukong, Concord, and Star Wars Outlaws!

By Balvinder Singh – Published On: August 16, 2024

It looks like August will be a great month to play video games. This month sees the release of many games, but two in particular stand out: Black Myth: Wukong and Star Wars Outlaws. These two games are also among the most eagerly awaited releases of the year. In addition, World of Warcraft, a game that has been around for 20 years, receives new DLC to keep the flames going.

So let’s examine these games and a few more in greater detail to see what they have to offer.

Black Myth: Wukong

Release date: 20 August

Platforms: PS5, PC

Black Myth: Wukong is an upcoming third-person action game based on the 16th-century Chinese novel, Journey to the West. It seems to be visually stunning and might just end up being an excellent showcase for Unreal Engine 5 and what it’s capable of. As for the game itself, expect a mostly linear action game with RPG elements mixed in.

Concord

Release date: 23 August

Platforms: PS5, PC

Concord will be Sony’s take on the 5v5 Hero Shooter genre pioneered by the likes of Overwatch. Considering that Overwatch 2 crashed and burned, it seems like a good time to try and win control of the genre. The game is set to offer 16 playable characters to choose from, and one can assume that more will be drip-fed over time. Will it succeed in dethroning Overwatch? Only time will tell.

World of Warcraft: The War Within

Release date: 26 August

Platforms: PC

It has been 20 years since World of Warcraft was released. For context, the game is older than the Apple iPhone, Twitter, Minecraft or the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even so, the game is still very popular. The fact that the game is still supported after so many years is a testament to how game companies should reward loyal fans. The best part is that The War Within will be the first part of the Worldsoul Saga. So players can expect two more expansions in the near future.

Squirrel with a Gun

Release date: 29 August

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Sereis X/S, PC

There was a time when intricate plots and meaningful stories weren’t necessary in video games. Why were you at a castle trying to save the princess? Why are you piling blocks in rows? In the independent game Squirrel with a Gun, you take control of a squirrel that happens to have a gun. The gun is used to fire covert agents that are pursuing you as well as for traversal. It reminds me a lot of games like Untitled Goose Game and Goat Simulator. Why not is sometimes the best response to the question “why?”

Star Wars Outlaws

Release date: 30 August

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC

an open-world game taking place in the Star Wars galaxy. Fans should be thrilled about that alone. Players assume control of Kay Vess, a third-person action-adventure game character who is referred to as “a scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life.” In addition, players will be able to operate vehicles and use their own blaster in combat. Because it’s a Star Wars game, you may anticipate appearances from a variety of characters and several well-known locales.
