Comparing the batteries of the Vivo V40 and Motorola Edge 50 Pro, which one provides superior backup?

By Bhavesh Yagnik – Published On: August 16, 2024

As we could see from our performance comparison, the Vivo V40 outperformed the Motorola Edge 50 Pro in terms of raw processing power (review). Does this, however, also result in longer battery life? We examine the variations in this battery comparison of the Motorola Edge 50 Pro and Vivo V40. In theory, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro has faster charging times than the Vivo V40, however the Vivo V40 has a bigger battery capacity.

PCMark battery test

The smartphone is put through a series of tasks by the PCMark test until the battery falls from 100% to 20%. After 13 hours of testing, the Vivo V40 with 80 percent brightness and 50 percent volume levels received a score. Comparatively, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro managed 12 hours and 30 minutes under comparable conditions.

Winner: Vivo V40

Video streaming test

After 30 minutes of using 50% brightness and volume, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro used about 60mAh more battery than the Vivo V40 during our video streaming test. The Vivo smartphone used three percent of its 5,500mAh battery, while the Edge 50 Pro’s 4,500mAh battery was lowered by five percent.

Winner: Vivo V40

Gaming test

The purpose of the test was to evaluate how well cellphones performed on their batteries when engaging in demanding activities like gaming. After 30 minutes of each game—BGMI, Call of Duty, and Real Racing 3—the Vivo V40’s battery life was reduced to 16 percent, or 880mAh, with the brightness and volume adjusted at 80 percent and 50 percent, respectively. On the other hand, in the identical settings, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro’s battery depleted by 26%, or 1,170mAh.

Winner: Vivo V40

Charging test

With its 80W fast charger, the Vivo V40 can be fully charged from 20 percent to full capacity in about 35 minutes. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro’s charge boost feature allows it to go from 20% to 100% charge in just 16 minutes. There is a catch, though. To fully charge the device—up to 128W—you will need to purchase a 12GB RAM model. There is a 68W charger included with the basic 8GB RAM model.

Winner: Motorola Edge 50 Pro

Verdict

The battery comparison between the Motorola Edge 50 Pro and the Vivo V40 is now complete. Thanks to its bigger 5,500mAh battery compared to the Motorola device’s 4,500mAh battery, the Vivo smartphone comes out on top. The Edge 50 Pro’s 128W charging speed, which is limited to the 12GB RAM version, is its sole benefit in this regard.
