Tensor G4 by Google compared to Tensor G3 AnTuTu and Geekbench scores (anticipated)

By Kapil Saakhi – Published On: August 16, 2024

The Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold are among the devices in Google’s newly released Pixel 9 series. The Tensor G4, a specially designed mobile chipset from Google, powers every phone. Let’s compare the performance of the new processor to the Tensor G3 found in the Pixel 8 series from last year. We’ve combined the benchmark results of the two chipsets that are now available against one another for this. At the bottom is a comparison of the specifications of the Tensor G4 and G3.

Tensor G4 advantages over Tensor G3 (expected)

  • Similar to the Tensor G3, the G4 is constructed on Samsung’s 4nm technology node and features an octa-core architecture with more recent ARM cores. It is equipped with three Cortex-A720 cores, four Cortex-A520 cores, and one Cortex-X4 core. With one Cortex-X3, four Cortex-A715 cores, and four Cortex-A510 cores, the Tensor G3 has a nine-core architecture.
  • Tensor G4 cores all receive a clock speed bump, with a maximum clock speed of 3.10GHz as opposed to 2.9GHz for Tensor G3.
  • In contrast to the Exynos 5300i modem found in the Tensor G3, the Exynos 5400 modem in the Tensor G4 is a whole new modem that should improve network reception and connectivity. In addition, the device’s overall efficiency might be increased.
  • While the Tensor G4 has an enhanced frequency of 940MHz up from 890MHz, it still contains the same ARM Mali-G715 GPU as the G3. This may allow for somewhat improved GPU performance.
  • Google claims that the Tensor G4 found in the Pixel 9 series can provide up to 20% more battery life than the Tensor G3.

Tensor G4 vs Tensor G3: AnTuTu scores (expected)

AnTuTu benchmark tests the CPU, GPU, RAM, and user experience (UX) to measure the chipset’s performance. Following the test, a comprehensive score and the scores for each of the four characteristics are provided. This is the Tensor G4’s AnTuTu performance compared to its predecessor.

Note:- The Tensor G3’s AnTuTu benchmark scores are based on our in-house testing of Pixel 8a while the Tensor G4 results are extracted from Rozetked.me.

Tensor G4 vs Tensor G3: Geekbench scores (expected)

Geekbench analyses the single-core and multi-core prowess of the processor. Here’s how the Tensor G4’s new CPU cluster consisting of new ARM cores fares against Tensor G3’s nona-core structure.

Note: The Geekbench scores for the Tensor G3 are derived from our internal testing on the Pixel 8a, whilst the data for the Tensor G4 are taken from DameTech.

FAQs

Has the gaming performance on Tensor G4 improved compared to Tensor G3?

Users can anticipate a little better gaming experience because the Tensor G4 has a slightly enhanced CPU and a slightly faster GPU. Nevertheless, a thorough evaluation of the Tensor G4 is necessary before a suitable conclusion can be made. So be sure to check back for our analysis and performance comparisons.

Who manufactures the Tensor G4, Samsung or TSMC?

The Tensor G4 is manufactured by Samsung, just like the previous three iterations. It is built on Samsung’s 4nm node.
